Dr. Roya Ijadi-Maghsoodi is an Assistant Professor-in-Residence in the UCLA Department of Psychiatry and Biobehavioral Sciences, an Investigator at the Center for the Study of Healthcare Innovation, Implementation & Policy within the VA Greater Los Angeles Healthcare System, and a faculty lead for the DMH-UCLA Prevention Center of Excellence. Dr. Ijadi-Maghsoodi’s research focuses on improving care for under-resourced populations in the community, including youth and families experiencing homelessness and high-risk youth with trauma. She received an AACAP NIDA Physician Scientist Program in Substance Abuse K12 Award to focus on improving care for families experiencing homelessness and parental substance use disorders and has received several research awards to focus on homeless-experienced Veteran parents and child-welfare involved families. She is involved with school-based mental health research as part of a long-standing community-academic partnership with LAUSD, including implementing and evaluating school resilience interventions. Clinically, she attends and teaches residents in the Homeless Patient Aligned Care Team (HPACT) Clinic and Women’s Health Clinic at the VA, and co-directs the UCLA Psychiatry Asylum Clinic. Dr. Ijadi-Maghsoodi is passionate about child mental health advocacy and serves on the Cal-ACAP Government Affairs Committee, was previously President of the Southern California Society of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry, and is a volunteer asylum network member for Physicians for Human Rights.
