Transportation Options:
UCLA strongly supports alternate transportation modes, such as public transportation, carpooling, biking, and walking. The Bruin TAP for Transit program offers two different passes: the BruinGo! Pass offers heavily subsidized quarterly rates for using the Santa Monica Big Blue Bus (BBB) and the Culver City Bus (CCB), and the Go Metro Pass offers subsidized quarterly rates for Metro buses and rail. Parking Permits:
If you will be driving and require a parking spot, there are parking garages available within walking distance of the hospital and Semel. As of July 1, 2022, the cost is $88.75/month, which is deducted from your monthly paycheck. Your permit is your license plate and parking enforcement does routinely prowl the lots. Dulce will assist you with signing up for parking. Be mindful there are spots reserved for those with electric/hybrid cars and UCLA specific vehicles. Transportation Reimbursement for Fatigued Housestaff:
If you are fatigued following a shift (most relevant for us following evening call), you can make use of the Uber Business account from GME. A few guidelines for the program:
- Applies to all Uber at most basic service price (no luxury services)
- Will NOT cover home to hospital at beginning of shift (i.e., in anticipation of fatigue)
- End location must be verifiable home address
