Throughout the first year of training, fellows must carry at least one longitudinal individual psychotherapy case. In the second year, fellows may either: (1) add another longitudinal case (and thus have two longitudinal individual psychotherapy cases); (2) participate in the Family Therapy elective (6 months); or (3) participate in the Group Therapy elective (6 months).
Each fellow will be assigned 2 therapy supervisors – one they meet with weekly (external supervisor) and one they meet with monthly (internal supervisor) to discuss their case(s). Additional supervision can be arranged at the request of the fellow. (The Family Therapy and Group Therapy electives will have additional supervision as part of the elective.)
It is strongly recommended for appointments to be conducted outside of rotation/clinic hours. Exceptions can be made if prior arrangements are made with a covering fellow and the supervising attending/clinic director.
